I have a MacPro, I have a Macbook Pro, I have an Apogee Ensemble, I have some nice mics, I have some nice monitors, I have some fabulous music production software and sample libraries, BUT…. I still remain addicted to the latest music tech, exemplified by my obsessive following of NAMM this Jan… what the hell!
I’ve always thought that creating music has always been what’s between your ears, your ability to reach a certain emotion/vibe by carefully, soulfully building elements together to construct sound that makes you cry!
After faithfully following this years NAMM via various blogs and tech sites I’ve realised a sense of what goes around comes around. Since I began my career in music composition in the mid 90’s some things have remained exactly the same - you need some decent speakers, some decent pre-amp for your decent mic & you spend your creative hours in front of these a computer screen and a master keyboard of some sort… have these really advanced that much in the past decade to warrant me being that interested in NAMM 2012?
These ARE AWESOME!!!!
You could almost do a studio mix on them…. well almost! For the size they are very impressive, if you are in the market for small laptop/media speakers and you want excellent sound quality these puppies produce!

16GB RAM, huge difference with Logic….well for some of the projects I’m working on!
2 x 480GB SSD RAID 0….youch! write 280MBs… READ OVER 550 MBs…. LASS has never loaded so fast, mega-incredible!!!!
That’s the geekfest for this month!
Just installed a hexa 3.33ghz in place of a quad 2.66ghz in my MacPro, all running fab!
Which is a relief, if I had fried the board…..ouch!
